Texas Charter Schools Association
TCSA is a statewide Association representing close to 90% of the charter students in every part of our great state. In total, an estimated 178,000 Texas students attend more than 550 open-enrollment charter schools (2013 AskTED data) with more than 101,000 additional students on waiting lists (2012 survey). There is an arbitrary cap of 305 (as of 2019), but the cap of 215 is not raised until 2014 and then it will be 225 charters available to be awarded in Texas. As of 11/22/13, there are 205 active charters awarded with 3 additional charters awarded in November, for a total of 208 charters taken, leaving 7 charters available. The Association advocates in Austin and Washington D.C. for member schools, improves their academic and financial performance through the implementation of the TCSA Quality Framework, and provides member services for school operators, board members, and staff. TCSA also hosts an annual statewide conference, one of the largest gatherings of charter schools in the nation.

UTSA Center for Accelerated Schools
Founded in 1986 by Dr. Henry M. Levin at Stanford University, the Accelerated Schools Project has worked successfully with over 1500 schools. Our work has led to significant improvements and documented successes. (American Institutes for Research, Education Alliance at Brown University, Manpower Development Research Corporation-MDRC, RAND Corporation, Texas Study of the High School Redesign and Restructuring Program)
We engage the community, administrators, staff, teachers, parents, students, and others to develop the best school possible for their learning community. Within the Accelerated Schools model, the school community works collaboratively and thoughtfully to determine its vision, understand its challenges, and problem-solve to meet the campus’s unique needs. We gather feedback and data at every step to build long-term, sustainable success.
